On February 22, the VIII Charity Chess Tournament “In Memory of the Heavenly Hundred and Heroes of the War” took place at the main building of Lviv National University of Life Safety.
The participants’ contributions were directed towards helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces – an FPV drone and Starlink were purchased and sent to the frontlines for the 5th Assault Brigade.
Over 100 participants from different corners of Ukraine, of various ages and chess ratings, including Ukrainian defenders, took part in the competition. The oldest participant was 80 years old, and the youngest was 6. During the tournament, a charity mini-auction was held.
The honorary guest of the tournament was the famous Lviv chess player with a world-renowned name, Adrian Mykhailchyshyn.
Winners were determined in six categories: “Overall Ranking,” “Rating up to 1800,” “Women,” “Children” (2011 and younger, 2013 and younger, 2015 and younger).
In the overall ranking, the winner was international grandmaster Lubomyr Mykhaleț. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the participants for their great play in a friendly atmosphere.

The event was primarily aimed at honoring the memory of those who fought for Ukraine’s freedom, as well as promoting patriotic education for children and youth.
