Нова машина для сушіння білизни та інші необхідні речі від «Об’єднання українок Бельгії» для хоспісного відділення лікарні в Олесько

New dryer and other necessary items from the “Association of Ukrainian Women in Belgium” for the hospice department of the hospital in Olesko

Nature is waking up, the sun is starting to warm, and the Public Organization and Charitable Foundation “Rozvytok Hromady” once again visited our long-time beneficiaries – elderly people in Olesko. This time, we brought not only gifts from our charitable foundation but also from our Belgian partners, who have already supported our projects during St. Nicholas Day and other charitable initiatives, the women’s organization with a 75-year history, “The Association of Ukrainian Women in Belgium.”

“At the request of the hospice department staff, with the funds we received from the Brussels center of the ‘AUW,’ a sum of over one thousand euros, we purchased a new Electrolux drying machine, adult diapers, household chemicals, and delicious treats like chocolates, juices, and fruits. We also brought meat and dairy gifts from our other friends,” shared Veronica Khidchenko, CEO of the Charitable Foundation.

The dryer is necessary so that elderly patients have dry and warm bedding during the winter, which normally doesn’t have time to dry. The number of sick patients constantly changes, and when the ward is fully occupied, the spare bedding is not enough for everyone. This will be our next task to resolve. However, now when we have signed an agreement under the Memorandum of Cooperation regarding the hospice department, we hope to be able to provide more active and effective support to improve the lives of its patients.

Currently, there is also a woman from the Donetsk region in Olesko who has lost not only her loved ones but also everything she earned throughout her life. Such people need special attention and compassion. We are trying, with the help of our partners and friends of the foundation, to improve their conditions in the hospice department.

We thank everyone who joined our recent trip, especially: Iryna Khapko, the head of the Brussels branch of the AUW, for initiating the support of the elderly, and all its members for their work at fairs and festivals, raising funds for such charitable initiatives.

Also, a big thank to our constant partners “Halytska Svizhyna,” “Molokia,” and the “D.S” pharmacy chain, who are always there to support us!
