Paralympic sport bocce is gaining popularity in Lviv
On September 26, in the shopping center King Cross Leopolis took place tournament on bocce, which was attended by twelve participants of the Interregional centre of social-labour , professional and medical rehabilitation.
On Saturday for people with special needs were no obstacles to opportunities and positive experiences. Brightest day began for them with a trip to the shopping and entertainment centre King Cross Leopolis in which the activists of the NGO "Community Development"(“Rozvytok Hromady”) has prepared many pleasant surprises.The lobby of the trade center was equipped with the special court for bocce. This is one of the sports that is accessible to people with special needs.
The tournament was attended by three team members on wheelchairs. Joyous and reckless atmosphere in that day prevailed not only among players but fans as well. Supported the participants of the game, the activists of "Community Development", the athletes from the club "Legion "Lviv", which brought and took care after people with disabilities and ordinary passers-by. The citizens, mostly families who came for shopping and entertainment options to the Mall, curiously stayed near the sports court and watched an active game of the participants.
After a rousing game, tournament participants had the opportunity to do shoping in a shopping center. Helped them to navigate young strong guys, participants of SC "Legion "Lviv". Also in the program of entertainment of the day were included lunch in the cafe Crazy Town and watching a movie at the cinema Planeta Kino IMAX.
In addition to physical assistance to the disabled, activists of the NGO initiated the collection of funds for the installation of a ramp in school №72. On this day in the shopping centre were collected 523 UAH. For construction, so necessary for children with special needs, ramp in the school premises, we need to gather 1 000 UAH. Everybody is welcome to join us with financial support.
The participants and organizers express their sincere gratitude to all our supporters and businesses who have joined the event. "We want to show our society that there are many people with disabilities in our city. Despite their disabilities, these individuals want to live the same way as all the healthy people, to go shopping, go to movies and plays, play sports and just have fun. And unfortunately, our city is not adapted for the free movement of people in wheelchairs, so they need our help", - said the initiator of the action, the activist of the NGO "Community Development" Andriy Feduniak.
