Today, Ukrainians are celebrating The National Flag Day

On August 23 – is The National Flag Day in Ukraine. Every not lazy patriot decorates with blue and yellow symbol his home.

In 1991 August 23, at the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada, a group of deputies for the first time introduced the Ukrainian Flag. It is now kept in the Museum of the Verkhovna Rada. Since then has flowed away a lot of time and our blue-and-yellow decorates Ukrainian buildings.

Due to the Constitution our flag is blue-yellow, but in 1918 the first President of Ukraine Mykhailo Hrushevskyi argued the yellow-blue flag. The main color that is blue, should be at the top, and minor (yellow) at the bottom. In accordance with the laws of heraldry, the state emblem should have a little different type, namely a blue Trident on a yellow background. Now we have a yellow Trident on a blue background.

They say that our ancestors Trypillians during the Great migration of peoples from the Northern Black Sea region brought with them the gold and blue symbols and not the blue and yellow.

Experts claim that the current form of the Ukrainian flag is wrong, a popular interpretation of the colors (blue – sky, yellow – Golden fields) is questionable. In fact, experts say, colors of our national symbol means fire and water. So now on our flag symbolically, the water extinguishes the fire, which violates the symmetry, the divine harmony of these elements.

From the sacred point of view, yellow means active, creative, sun-fire, spiritual, divine, and blue — passive, wet, conservative, which requires the intensification and spiritualization. The image on the flag is blue over yellow indicates that the nation recognizes the dominance of passive over active, conservative over creative material divine.

On one day the Chinese artist Mao Mao asked , that time President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk to dohis very best to reversed the colors of our flag , they say under such a combination of colors, as of now, Ukraine is waiting for the collapse.

And yet still the Ukrainians post blue-yellow, not yellow-blue flags.

In August 2004, the President signed a Decree about establishment of The National Flag Day in Ukraine, and is celebrated annually on 23 August. Before that Flag Day was celebrated only in Kyiv at the municipal level.
