Today people all over the world celebrate the International Human Rights Day

This holiday was established on December 4, 1950, at the meeting of General Assembly.

Two years earlier, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was the first international document that clearly stated position of human rights. In particular, the founders of this festival called for the expansion of human rights, active promotion of ideas of equality, social responsibility and mutual support.

“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”- this is stated in the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. “We are now, more than ever, understand the value of these words and try to bring them to life - said human rights activist Andriy Bolyubash - the basis of any state should be supremacy of law. This day is an absolute reminder that every citizen of the country, politician, lawyer or doctor should work within current legislation, respecting the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the UN Declaration”.

The Lawyers of CO became participants of the project “To ensure human rights in the administration of justice”. The event was organized by the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine in cooperation with the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine. The seminar consists of a review of the main provisions of the Convention, screening the film "On the European Court of Human Rights" and a discussion between participants - lawyers.
