Shevchenko readings were held during the Festival of Ukrainian Embroidery

In the framework of the festival due to the Day of Ukrainian Embroidery on 10 May, on the day of reburial of the body of the glorious Kobzar, were held Shevchenko readings among the artists of Lviv. The event was held in the store "Knyzhkovyi Dvoryk", at street Vynnychenka, 4.

Sounded excerpts from the famous poem "the Caucasus" poem "Perebendia", "I mertvym, I zhyvym , I nenarodzhenym", "Podrazhanie Psalmu 11", etc.. performed by members of the National Union of writers and artists, among whom were Kateryna  Nemyra, Natalka Hurnytska, Ivan Gentosh, Jaroslav Petryshyn, Bogdana Syniakevych, etc.. Everything went without pathos in a sincere, friendly and family atmosphere. After all, "Knyzhkovyi Dvoryk" regularly gathers its authors and readers.

The initiator of the event Olena Kis-Fedoruk not only read poetry, but also told a lot of interesting facts from the life of Taras Shevchenko. In particular, they talked about that in his youth Shevchenko was iconic figure in St. Petersburg, a dandy, a favorite of women. And there are many speculations and evidences that he might leave a posterity. However, at that time it was absolutely impossible to say such things publicly. So we still have to learn a lot about his descendants.

In addition, more than 30 yearsago, the great-grandson of Shevchenko Mykola Lysenko worked on the study "the roots of Shevchenko." In his view, the genealogical scheme of Shevchenko genus contains more than 1,300 people, famous and obscure, who live in Ukraine, Russia, the Baltics, Australia, USA, France and in particular in Kyrylivka, Myrontsi, Zvenyhorodka.

The event was moderated by writer Nicka Nickaleo, member of NGO"Community Development", who also gathered a lot of interesting events of the life of the Ukrainian painter, poet, prophet, one of the most outstanding figures in the history of Ukraine:

  • I don’t want to focus on literary genius, for it is a fact which no one disputes. And one can talk about it endlessly. But the absolute value of Shevchenko in the history of our state gives us a better chance in reproduction, and in the return and attainment of high spirituality and leadership in this direction among the Eastern European States. It is only with such a highly spiritual and Patriotic leader, we can and should go forward, to regain our place in Europe. And that is why "Shevchenko readings" in the framework of the Festival of Ukrainian Embroidery is correct and logical,- said the writer.
