NGO "Community Development"(“Rozvytok Hromady”) is attached to the control of anti-corruption reforms

On November 9, in the city of Lviv in the framework of the project on combating bribery in Ukraine with the financial support of the UK government was held a public forum "Overcome bribery together!"

Overcoming corruption in Ukraine is a priority not only for the representatives of our government, the President and the Government, but also for Ukrainian society as a whole. It permeates all spheres of social life: a characteristic of education, medicine, law enforcement and judicial authorities. And at the same time, gratitude in the form of money, gifts for the services to the teachers or doctors is considered normal, is not condemned in the moral sense, gradually leading to the destruction of our country activity.

As defined in the Law of Ukraine "On principles of state anti-corruption policy in Ukraine (Anticorruption strategy) for 2014-2017" according to research, it is corruption that is one of the reasons that led to mass protests in Ukraine in late 2013 - early 2014. According to the study "Global Corruption Barometer", conducted by the international organization Transparency International, in 2013, 36 percent of Ukrainians were ready to go on the streets, protesting against corruption.

But is it enough to fight corruption? World experience shows that effective anti-corruption program is based exclusively on complex enforcement, educational measures and procedures. And the last are most needed for the Ukrainian society.

With this aim foreign colleagues supported the holding of public forums "Overcome bribery together!" for representatives of government and civil society institutions. The moderators of the event in Lviv were O. Kalitenko – senior analyst of Transparency International Ukraine, he told the participants the discussion questions regarding the notion of bribery in Ukraine, the distinction between an unlawful benefit and gift according to the norms of current Law of Ukraine "On prevention of corruption", the admissibility of evidence to bring the person for committing criminal acts to criminal liability. A detailed analysis of corruption in medicine, business moderation issues was carried out by A. Stojan, T. Yatskiv, I. Pechenkin.

Today one of the directions of activity of the NGO "Community Development" is to conduct educational activities in the fight against corruption. Our members are actively working on the study and analysis of its actual manifestations on the territory of Lviv region. And developed projects for the prevention, detection and fight against corruption, which will be implemented with the support of colleagues and partners in the next year," said the lawyer, member of the NGO "Community Development" Solomiya Starosolska.
