Round table: "European integration processes in Ukraine: participation of civil society"

Our activists are also very well aware of underlined characteristic of a democratic society like «something you to do», as they always abide to the principles of the active citizenship, the rule of law and the high culture.

The round table of today, organized by the community leaders of Ukraine and Lithuania, which was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, was interesting to our activists in terms of introduction and establishment of European values after the events on the Maidan.

The co-founder and the chairman of the Center for Civic Initiatives, expert of the public authorities  - Vitaliy Zagaynyj - in his short report identified the targets of Euromaidan as a manifestation of institutions of civil society in a new quality in Ukraine. Also in the discussion was underlined the transition from quantity to quality, such as engaging in social activities of a large amount of new, intelligent  people.

The basic idea was the message to unite different NGOs,  that are often doing something useful, but carry it separately and therefore ineffective. And the important thing is the approach of collaboration of such initiatives to each other and to the common European integration processes.

"This year there was a jump in the mindset of Ukrainian citizens," said Christina Vaychyunayte,  the Director of the Center of East European Studies, adding, that all the processes of formation of civil society and the new European mentality went too far in advance here in Ukraine through the winter events that shook the world.

Extrapolating the content of the meeting during the round table, the members of our "Rozvytok Hromady" pointed to themselves those moments, which are already familiar. Namely - the responsibility of community leaders, in particular, and NGOs in general before the community; their political neutrality and strong position in relation to their European principles and beliefs. Our activists are also very well aware of the underlined characteristic of a democratic society as «something you to do», as they always abide to the principles of the active citizenship, the rule of law and the high culture.

As a result of participation in this debate our activists created some new ideas, that will make it possible not just to earn social elevator, which is involved in the state today, as noted. There was a big question of the responsibility of new politicians  to the community, which has delegated their power from the public, as the bearers of European values and aspirations of the community. They should be a bridge between the community and politicians for active control and accountability.
