3 Lviv schools won the competition dedicated to the “Vyshyvanka's Day”

The patriotic wave of the Vyshyvanka's Day didn't avoid Lviv schools. At the beginning of May, activists of the NGO Community Development announced a competition for the best-decorated school with an embroidery. As a result, 3 schools won the competition.

The activists of the NGO “Community Development” tried to make young Ukrainians be interested with a competition which was dedicated to the “Vyshyvanka's Day”.  Activists conducted the competition between schools, the main purpose of which was to find the most creative way to celebrate the “Vyshyvanka's Day”. Students, teachers and parents of 16 Lviv schools that agreed to participate in the competition, put a lot of efforts to make their school a symbol of patriotism.

The students' work was evaluated by the special committee: Olena Kondrat,  the head of the Regional State Administration on youth policy management of youth and sport; Nelia Nakonechna, the ethnographer; Tetiana Zaharchuk, the project coordinator, a representative of the NGO “Community Development”; Helena Bilyk, the member of the NGO “Community Development”. Throughout the day, the working group assessed the efforts of all 16 schools. In addition, each school completed the task very seriously, each with their own approach and vision of beauty of the embroidered ornament.

“I am proud and glad that schools participated actively in this patriotic competition. Teachers, parents and children behaved to it very seriously. Thanks to all teachers that made vyshyvanka live in the hearts of our children. What about winners, first of all, we paid attention to the creativity. Each school beautifully prepared their area but not each school invested a unique idea or element. For example, in the school “Pervotsvit” we saw 4 tables, symbolizing the four seasons. Each was decorated with vyshyvankas, which are inherent for holidays at this time of year, and even small pupils told us the meaning of symbols on these canvases. Our winners included in itself these qualities, so that's why we chose them for a win,” - says Tetiana Zaharchuk, the coordinator of the competition.

Nevertheless, the committee made its choice. For the most creative, up to date approach to the task 3 schools won the competition:

1st place - school “Shkola radosti”

2nd place - school “Pervotsvit”

3rd place - school № 96.

The NGO “Community Development” prepared for the winners some prizes. The projector, TV and microscope for the first, second and third place respectively.
